On today’s LIVE episode of the RUDIS Wrestling Podcast, Matt Dernlan is joined in studio by 4x NCAA Champion and 2016 World Champion Logan Stieber. Stieber, a coach at the Ohio RTC and founder of the Stieber Elite Wrestling Academy, has transitioned into serving the sport after capping off one of the most successful competitive careers in American wrestling history. Dernlan and Stieber discuss the transition from athlete to coach, how he’s coached his athletes through the postponement of the 2020 Games and how people can get better physically and mentally while stuck at home. The two field questions from the live viewers to address a variety of other topics as well.
Logan is an Ohio native with a storied history of dominance in the sport of wrestling. A 4x OHSAA DIII State Champion for Monroeville, Stieber went on to wrestle for Tom Ryan at the Ohio State University, where he became just the fourth-ever 4x NCAA Champion, joining the likes of Pat Smith, Cael Sanderson and Kyle Dake. In 2015, Stieber won his fourth NCAA title, propelling the Buckeyes to their first-ever team title at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, snapping Penn State wrestling’s streak. The year following his senior campaign for the Buckeyes, Stieber became a 2016 World Champion. He continued to compete internationally for a handful of years before retiring in April of 2019 and transitioning into coaching.
