Marysville, OH—RUDIS is proud to announce the expansion of its team of elite athletes with the addition of 3x NCAA All-American wrestler and Big Ten Champion Luke Pletcher. Pletcher joins Team RUDIS after a stellar career at The Ohio State University. The Pennsylvania native finished his collegiate wrestling career with over one hundred wins, three trips to the Big Ten finals, and four consecutively secured spots to the NCAA Wrestling Championships with two podium finishes.

RUDIS Chief of Staff and Director of the Senior Athlete Program Matt Dernlan remarks on the addition of Pletcher to Team RUDIS.

“I’ve always respected Luke as a competitor, but also admire how he’s established himself as a leader and example for those around him on every level. We are thrilled to add Luke to our stellar team of RUDIS Athletes and are excited to see him contend for World and Olympic teams in the coming years.”

Pletcher originates from Latrobe, Pennsylvania—one of America’s wrestling hotbeds. He earned three PIAA state titles and was a four-time state finalist for Greater Latrobe High School, and also was a 2x Super 32 Champion and FloNationals Champion. Coming out of high school, Pletcher was the top-ranked wrestling recruit out of Pennsylvania, and the sixth-overall pound-for-pound wrestling recruit in the country.

As a true freshman, Pletcher immediately took up a starting spot in the Buckeye roster and never looked back, amassing 108 career wins in his four years at Ohio State. As a senior, he served as a team captain with fellow Team RUDIS athlete Kollin Moore, and earned his first Big Ten title en route to securing the top seed for the 2020 NCAA Wrestling Championships.

In addition to training for the 2021 Games, Pletcher will join the University of Pittsburgh as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Panthers while training at the Pittsburgh Wrestling Club RTC.

RUDIS Co-Founder and President Jesse Leng comments on Pletcher and his developing career.

Whenever we look to add an athlete to our roster, the first and most important thing we look at is the quality of their character. In this category, like all of our athletes, Luke shines.  On and off the mat, he is what RUDIS is all about.”

Serving the amateur wrestling community, RUDIS honors some of the greatest names in the history of the sport including Dave Schultz, Cary Kolat, Kenny Monday, Lincoln Mcllravy, Russ Hellickson and more. The company states:

“Born from wrestling and built for wrestling. RUDIS was created with a single vision in mind: be the most accurate and authentic expression of the sport through apparel. The core values of wrestling govern our every action and drive us to continually innovate, serve, and connect with those who love this sport.”
