Marysville, OH—RUDIS is excited to announce the addition of Jack Mueller to its roster of elite athletes. Mueller joins Team RUDIS after a historic career at the University of Virginia. As a Cavalier, Mueller became the first true freshman All-American in program history, an ACC Champion, and a National Finalist. Mueller also represented the United States at 57-kilograms during the 2018 U23 World Championships.
RUDIS Chief of Staff and Director of the Senior Athlete Program Matt Dernlan voices his thoughts on the addition of Mueller to Team RUDIS.
“Jack has wrestled his entire career with a level of passion and intensity that embodies what RUDIS stands for. We couldn’t be happier to have him continue his wrestling career with us.”
Born and bred in Dallas, Mueller’s wrestling career began in his living room at the age of three, where his older brother Keegan would help him stand in order to practice double legs on him.
“For me, my love of the sport began there,” Mueller recalls.
Mueller credits Keegan, now a University of North Carolina wrestling alumnus, as his biggest role model in the sport. A four-year letterwinner in high school, Mueller wrestled three of his four high school seasons at Trinity Christian Academy in Texas. His junior year was spent at Wyoming Seminary in Pennsylvania. Mueller was a 4x National Prep Champion, a 2013 Freestyle Cadet National Champion, and a 2014 Freestyle Junior National Champion.
Ranked third nationally as a high school senior at 126 pounds, Mueller chose to attend the University of Virginia. During his career, Mueller was a 4x NCAA Qualifier, a 3x All-American, and ACC Champion. In 2019, he upended top-seeded Sebastian Rivera to earn a spot in the national finals against defending champion Spencer Lee. Mueller capped his collegiate career with an impressive 85-14 record and will train for the 2021 Games with his former high school coach, Kendall Cross, at the NYC RTC.
RUDIS Co-Founder and President Jesse Leng speaks about Mueller’s signing with RUDIS.
“Having watched Jack train and compete for years, the thing that always stuck out to me was his determination and fight. He always lays it on the line and leaves everything on the mat. This is what our brand and business are all about. I am excited and proud to add him to the team.”
Serving the amateur wrestling community, RUDIS honors some of the greatest names in the history of the sport including Dave Schultz, Cary Kolat, Russ Hellickson, Kenny Monday, Lincoln Mcllravy and more. The company states:
“Born from wrestling and built for wrestling. RUDIS was created with a single vision in mind: be the most accurate and authentic expression of the sport through apparel. The core values of wrestling govern our every action and drive us to continually innovate, serve, and connect with those who love this sport.”
