On this weeks episode of Mental Monday Ben Askren continues his 3 part series demystifying the idea of peaking for wrestling competition. The series consists of technical, physical, and mental perspectives. This episode is focused on the importance of the physical aspect of peaking for wrestling competition. Askren believes that in order to peak physically for a competition the implementation of new technique should be ramping down at the same rate that physical intensity ramps up. In addition, he believes that there is a danger in pushing physically as hard as you can as an athlete right before competition as this can break down your body and prevent you from being able to peak at the competition.
